Table Mate II is great! I've owned for over 2 years! May 18, 2006 Tammy (WI USA) 27 out of 29 found this review helpful
I am in no way connected with the makers or sellers of Table Mate. As for them being listed several times, by several companies selling them, if you'd searched on Amazon much you'd find that is common. As for the few negative reviews the only thing I can figure is they're talking about Table Mate I (which I've never tried) or some other brand completely. I've had the Table Mate II for at least 2 years and use it daily for my laptop and occassionally for eating on. It certainly can be set perfectly flat. I wouldn't recommend leaning heavily on it but I rest my hands/arms on my laptop while I type all the time (like now) without a problem. It has held up superbly to my abuse. I'm extremely happy I purchased this and am planning on buying a couple more as gifts (one for my fiance who likes and really wants one like mine).
In: Table Mate II ... Out: TV Tray! January 13, 2006 Jason E. Rice (Houston, TX USA) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
Been eyeballing this for a few months with much skepticism, and then I received one for Christmas. I work on the computer for much of the day (programmer by trade), and I work part of the time in the living room in front of the TV on a couch. A TV tray provides a good stable surface, and an eventual pain in the back, as there is no comfortable position in which to sit on a couch and work on a laptop.
And then there's the Table Mate II. I adjusted the height to my liking, sat down on the couch (leaning back comfortably), and _easily_ slid the table mate into myself. I have no back pain any longer while I work, and I still have a stable surface on which to work. I eat dinner on it and it cleans easily, and have no plans to go back to a traditional tv tray anytime soon.
I first mentioned the idea of the table mate to my roommate about 3 or 4 months ago and asked if he'd be interested in using one (tv ad listed it as a "buy 2, get 1 free" deal), and he said "why? I have a tv tray!" I'm happy to report that after a few days of use by me, he finally ate crow and asked where he could get it ... his Table Mate II will be arriving in the next couple days!
I have not placed a 50 pound bottle of water on top of the tray (as advertised), but then I really don't want to ... I will say that I have momentarily placed a stack of old text books on it, 10 or so weighing approximately 20-25 pounds, and it held up with no problems!
Sure, I got this for free, but it's great enough for me to want to buy a second one for a guest!
Table Mate II October 28, 2005 Kangka-T (Michigan City, Indiana) 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
I ordered Table Mate II for my family room. My husband and I eat fairly late because of his work schedule so we always eat in our family room in front of TV. I ordered this table on Tues. and it arrived two days later. I love it. It is very light weight but sturdy and well made. Adjusting the height is easy, just push in both pins and give the leg a twist so they can't pop out, take it to the notch that is right for you and straighten the leg...the pins pop out and you have it. The top is adjustable for flat to a couple slants. I really like it and I am ordering another one today for my hubby.
good product November 28, 2005 S. Doran 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
These tables are perfect for eating in the living room. I can pull the table right up close to eat and be comfortable on the couch. Or if i want to eat upstairs in my office, they're easy to carry. I agree, the height is a pain to change, i keep it the same. Be careful putting the table down, the bar will swing down and hit you on the shins. I'm more careful now. I'm very happy with this purchase. (why are they calling this a toy?????)
We have 3 of these now! December 17, 2005 kwt (Orem, Utah United States) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
This is a great product. It serves as a light-weight but stable tv tray, as an adjustable bed tray, as a table for the grandkids to eat on, and as a perfect card table in our trailer. I'm getting one for my elderly mom for Christmas too, because it slides around so easily and your legs don't get all caught up in it.
